(Austin, TX) — Once again, Texas lawmakers will consider a bill that outlaws distracted driving, specifically the use of smart phones while operating a motor vehicle.

Republican representative Tom Craddick filed a bill yesterday in Austin that would make using a cell phone while driving a ticketable offense.

A similar bill filed by the Midland lawmaker passed both the House and Senate in 2011, but was vetoed by then-governor Rick Perry, who called it a government effort to micro-manage the behavior of adults.
