(Austin, TX) — Texas House Speaker Joe Straus is vowing to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to services for disabled children, money that was cut by the 2015 legislature.
The San Antonio Republican tells “The Texas Tribune” that the cuts were “well-intentioned” but that “maybe they were a mistake.”
Lawmakers last year cut 350-million-dollars in Medicaid funding for in-home therapy services to medically fragile children.
The matter has been tied up in the courts for months, but earlier this week, the state announced payments to some therapy providers would be reduced starting December 15th.
