Officer Who Stopped OSU Attack Called “Hero”

osu_university_hall(Columbus, OH) — The Ohio State University police officer who shot and killed the suspect in yesterday’s campus attack is being hailed as a hero.

OSU officials say Officer Alan Horujko shot Abdul Artan within a minute of arriving on scene after Artan refused commands to drop his knife and surrender.

Artan is accused of plowing into a group and then attacking people with a butcher knife, leaving eleven injured.

Horujko has been with the OSU Police Department for nearly two years.

He’s on administrative leave per department policy.
