(Austin, TX) — A high-ranking Texas official tells “Sports Illustrated” that U-T is ready to pull the plug on third-year head football coach Charlie Strong.
The move, it says, would likely come at the end of U-T’s season, but the report has fueled speculation that Texas may immediately enter the presumed bidding war for Cougars’ head coach Tom Herman.
Strong, meantime, is 13-and-16 overall in Austin, but is coming off back-to-back road losses to Cal and Oklahoma State.
