(Austin, TX) — Most of us wouldn’t dream of passing a stopped school bus operating its red lights or its stop sign indicating the loading or unloading of students.
For the drivers who would dare to pass, there may be a Department of Public Safety trooper inside the bus.
The DPS in Austin says its officers will be riding school buses across the state during National School Bus Safety Week.
Other troopers will be in their patrol cars following school buses between now and Friday.
The fine for passing a stopped school bus that’s loading or unloading can be as high as twelve-hundred-50-dollars.
