(Dallas, TX) — The Big 12 is going to stay at ten teams.
Multiple reports say conference presidents were unable to reach an agreement on any teams to join the Big 12.
Possible candidates needed a super-majority to become a Big 12 member.
Houston and Cincinnati were considered the leading candidates to become Big 12 members, along with BYU as a possible football-only member.
There are also reports FOX Sports and ESPN offered extra money for the conference to stay at ten teams.
A news conference is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Central.
(Dallas, TX) — A news conference is scheduled later today on whether the Big 12 will expand.
Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby and Oklahoma President David Boren are expected to talk to the media around 5:30 p.m. on the issue, including which teams might be coming into the conference.
Houston and Cincinnati are considered the favorites to join the Big 12.
There are also reports the Big 12 will not expand because FOX Sports and ESPN have offered to give more money to the conference to stay at ten teams.
