(Hempstead, TX) — Waller County commissioners are signing off on a settlement with the family of Sandra Bland.
Commissioners unanimously approved the almost two-million-dollar settlement today following a federal lawsuit by Bland’s mother.
Bland was arrested during a confrontation with a now former state trooper last year after being pulled over for not using a turn signal. She committed suicide inside her cell at the Waller County Jail a few days later. The ex-trooper is under indictment for perjury.
