State University Leaders Want Help With Vets Tuition Program

Texas Capital(Austin, TX) — State university leaders meet tomorrow with lawmakers in Austin on how to pay for the mushrooming costs of tuition programs for Texas veterans.

Under the Hazlewood Act, veterans and their dependents get a free college education, but university officials say they aren’t being given the funding needed to support the rising number of veterans taking advantage of the program.

They want a chat with House lawmakers on how to keep the underfunded mandate going.
