Rice University Apologizes For Band’s Performance

rice-logo(Houston, TX)  — Rice University is apologizing after its marching band’s performance mocked a sexual assault scandal at Baylor University.  It happened during halftime of Saturday’s football game between the two Texas schools.  The Marching Owl Band formed “I-X” for Title Nine in reference to lawsuits Baylor is facing.  It also formed a star as a reference to former Baylor president Ken Starr, who resigned because of the investigation.  Rice says it did not mean to offend Baylor fans and was not looking to make light of the serious issue of sexual assault.  Baylor won the game, 38-10.
