(Houston, TX) — A Houston company is touting a new oil field in West Texas where, it says, there could be up to three-billion barrels of oil and 75-trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
If the claim by Apache Corporation proves true, then it would be one of the richest oil field discoveries of the past decade.
Apache calls the area near the Davis Mountains “Alpine High” and the oil field, by company estimates, could be worth anywhere from eight billion to 80 billion dollars.
Apache has been quietly acquiring mineral rights in the area over the past two years and now controls over 300-thousand acres.
