(Undated) — Bayer and Monsanto are expected to announce the conclusion of their 65-billion dollar deal today.
The “Wall Street Journal” reports sources are saying Bayer’s supervisory board will meet this afternoon and approve the takeover. Monsanto’s board agreed late yesterday to accept the German pharmaceutical and chemical heavyweight’s offer.
The deal is likely to shift Bayer’s focus away from its core healthcare operations to a bigger emphasis on agricultural chemicals. Bayer’s ag division harvested close to 12-billion dollars in sales last year, compared to 15-billion for Monsanto.
