(Austin, TX) — The University of Texas at Austin is giving its faculty and staff the option of banning weapons from their personal offices when the new Campus Carry Law goes into effect August 1st. The UT regents passed the exception yesterday, but, at the same time, allowed licensed gun carriers on campus to keep a bullet in the chamber of their guns if they so desired. UT-Austin President Greg Fenves has argued that keeping a round in the chamber will lead to accidental shootings.
