Top Saudi Clerical Body Renews Fatwa Against Pokemon

(Undated) — Saudi Arabia’s leading clerics are reminding Muslims that Pokemon is un-Islamic.

The country’s top clerical body today renewed a 15-year-old edict against the game. The Council of Senior Religious Scholars says it’s reviving a 2001 decree against the Pokemon franchise because of questions from believers.

The council says the mutating creatures in the game are blasphemous because the concept promotes the theory of evolution.
