The overnight programming has been notably absent the last 2 days due to a problem in the studio.
The problem appears to be a failing component inside the studio mix engine, the “central plant” of the radio station. There have been several campus-wide power outages the last week, and this problem may be related to those outages. The power outages may have caused a problem within our equipment causing it to fail at random times.
We didn’t experience this issue prior to last week, before the power failures, and have had 3 occurrences since, pointing suspicion at a failing component possibly damaged by the power outages.
KTTZ-FM has experienced failed components in their studio equipment, which is similar to what is used at KTXT-FM, adding support to what we think may be happening.
The equipment manufacturer has been contacted and we are waiting for a response.
