DALLAS – President Barack Obama will be in Dallas later today to honor victims in last week’s deadly shootings. The president will speak at an interfaith memorial service. He’ll also meet with families of those killed and injured when a gunman opened fire on police in downtown Dallas on Thursday.

This isn’t the first time President Obama has come to Texas help it mourn. In 2013, he was in West, Texas, after a chemical plant explosion. Twice, he went to Fort Hood to attend memorial services for victims of shooting attacks.

This time, he’ll be joined by former President George W. Bush, the vice president, both Texas senators and a host of other dignitaries. Obama is expected to address violence in Dallas and across the country.

To ensure the visit goes smoothly, Arlington will assist the beleaguered Dallas Police Department with security. The memorial service will be held at the Meyerson Symphony Center in the Arts District.
