(New York, NY) — The NYPD says it’s closely monitoring developments in Dallas following a deadly sniper attack that killed at least five police officers and wounded at least seven others last night. Police say they’ve beefed up patrol units in New York City and are prepared to deploy special counterterrorism units, if needed. The department sent a memo to all precincts this morning, remind officers to think tactically and remain vigilant when members of the public approach them. The NYPD also says it’s posting a uniformed security officer at every precinct.
