(Munich) — It’s a chaotic scene in and around Munich. Multiple attackers are suspected in a shooting at a shopping center in the German city. Police now say they are investigating unconfirmed reports of possible gunfire in other parts of the city and again ask people to avoid public areas. Police recently tweeted that they don’t know where the perpetrators are. Witnesses reported seeing three people with firearms. There are reports of multiple casualties, but there are still no firm numbers. A police spokeswoman remarked that the shooting apparently began at a McDonald’s adjacent to a mall.
The State Department is warning Americans in Munich to shelter in place. The U.S. consulate is advising Americans in Munich to maintain a high level of vigilance. It noted that a major police operation is underway and mass transit in the city is on hold. Munich police say they are still hunting multiple suspects.
