The Pentagon says an al-Qaeda leader has been killed in a U.S. airstrike in Syria.
Defense officials say Sanafi al-Nasr was the terror group’s top financial operative and the highest ranking member of the Khorasan Group.
The Saudi national was killed Thursday during a strike on his convoy. The Pentagon described al-Nasr as “a longtime jihadist experienced in funneling money and fighters for al-Qaeda.”
He’s the fifth senior member of the Khorasan Group killed in the past four months.
