Coming off a 2-1 performance in the Lone Star Showdown this past weekend, Texas Tech Volleyball begins the conference schedule tonight versus Oklahoma at the United Supermarkets Arena at 6:00 p.m. Tech currently sits 11-3 overall. The game will be broadcast on KTXT.

Tech soccer player Alli Murphy has been named the Big 12 offensive player of the week. Murphy had two goals and one assist this past weekend, as Tech played Florida Atlantic and South Florida. The Red Raiders won both 2-1. According to TexasTech.com, Murphy is tied for second place in goals for the season. Tech takes on the Sooners this weekend in Norman.

Two Texas Christian University football players are in trouble for an alleged assault of another student. Fort Worth Police say defensive end Mike Tuaua [[ TOO-ah ]] and backup wide receiver Andre Petties-Wilson were arrested Monday on a felony count of robbery and bodily injury Both players have been suspended from the program. Tuaua has not played in the Horned Frogs’ last two games.

With quarterback Tony Romo out at least seven weeks with a broken collarbone, the Dallas Cowboys are adding quarterback depth. Multiple reports say Dallas has acquired veteran Matt Cassel [[ Castle ]] from the Buffalo Bills for a 2017 draft pick. Cassel was released by the Bills before the season, only to be re-signed at a cheaper salary. Brandon Weeden is expected to start in place of the injured Romo.

Mitch Moreland hit a two-run homer during a three-run sixth as the Rangers outslugged the A’s, 8-6, in Oakland. Delino DeShields plated a pair, including the go-ahead run in the sixth. Chi Chi Gonzalez earned the win. Shawn Tolleson allowed a run in the ninth, but held on for his 33rd save. Texas now leads Houston by two games for first place in the AL West.

Baseball legend Yogi Berra has passed away. Berra’s museum released a statement saying the New York Yankee icon died at the age of 90 Tuesday night. One of the best and most-beloved players to ever wear pinstripes, Berra spent 18 of his 19 seasons with the Yankees. He won three American League MVP awards and 10 World Series championships during his playing days. The 15-time All-Star was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
