Campus carry is a governor’s signature away from being law in Texas. The House approved the bill yesterday, which allows people with concealed handgun licenses to carry on public universities. The bill does allow university presidents to create some gun-free zones on campuses.
Tomball Republican Allen Fletcher says campus carry will protect men and women carrying concealed on campus. San Antonio Democrat Trey Martinez Fischer says the fight is just beginning and voted against the bill, even though he helped write a compromise on it.
Governor Greg Abbott is expected to sign the bill into law.
