Monday marked off a the Rainy week for Lubbock, with multiple cars stalled out on the North Marsha Sharp highway crossing under university and on Texas Tech campus. City officials closed off five roads from the rain, but are expected to be open this morning.
Lubbock Power & Light responded to about 130 outages just before 9pm Monday night. This was all caused from a line of thunderstorms that dumped heavy rain across the south plains with an upward of 3inchs of rainfall in southern portions of the region.
According the Lubbock AJ, about 3.01 inches of rain have been reported in central Lubbock. Now, that does not seem much but when collected in low points on roads, that is where you would get the flooding and small waves crossing the roads.
So drive with caution when you go out this morning, we are still expecting more rain this afternoon.
