Fans around the world are remembering B.B. King, who died Thursday night at age 89 after battling a long illness. The blues legend said on May 1st that he had been in poor health for some time, and had entered hospice care in Las Vegas. That’s where he ended up passing away.
Born Riley B. King, the “King of Blues,” was diagnosed with diabetes back in 1990, but continued to play live around the world, performing up to 150 shows a year until recently.
Celebrities from Ringo Starr to Gene Simmons to Brad Paisley and plenty of big names in between took to Twitter to mourn the loss of a legend. Lenny Kravitz seemed to sum up what so many were feeling, tweeting “BB, anyone could play a thousand notes and never say what you said in one.”
