There is no longer going to be any Blue Bell ice cream on store shelves. The Brenham-based company announced Monday it was voluntarily recalling all of its products due to concerns about Listeria contamination. The company says a half-gallon of ice cream tested positive last month.
Blue Bell CEO Paul Kruse says this is the right thing to do and the only way they can make sure their products are safe. There have been several positive tests for Listeria in different plants.
For weeks, Blue Bell has issued limited recalls. Now, the recall is across-the-board including even non-ice cream products like fruit bars. Blue Bell hopes to start putting products back out on a limited basis soon.
It’s the first recall in the company’s 100 years of existence.
