It’s homecoming week! Your Texas Tech Red Raiders are in action against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Jones AT&T Stadium. I trolled the offices Thursday morning, and interviewed a few of our directors here at KTXT about their thoughts and score predictions for the game.
Ralph Barrera, News Director
“Texas Tech against Kansas? Homecoming game? Same prediction as I had last week: we’re gonna win. Realistically, I think it’ll be 27-7. I think we’ll put up the first seven points and after that, unless our offense keeps them away from [quarterback Davis] Webb and keeps Webb from scrambling…because when he’s under pressure that’s when picks are thrown. That’s when all hell breaks lose, and mistakes, and tortillas start flying. 27-7, but I do have faith in my Tech team. And it may be the opposite! (After some silence) 35-21 Tech.”

“I don’t know. The last couple of weeks have been pretty rough. I don’t know what it’s gonna be like, but hopefully we can get the W.”

“Considering Kansas has never won, in my latest recollection of Texas Tech football, a single game, I would have to say that, with them playing away here in Lubbock for Homecoming, I’m thinking it will be 48-20? Texas Tech will win? But who knows, Ciara? Who knows?”

“Who do we play this weekend? I mean, who do we lose to this weekend? Kansas. We lose to Kansas, I have no idea what the score will be, but they’ll have more points than our team will. I don’t think it’s going to be pretty, I think it’s going to be more of the same, and I think we’ve won all the games we’re going to win this season.”

As for my score prediction, I feel if Tech can play the way they did in the first three-quarters of the West Virginia game, and not give away so many yards on penalties, we can win this game against a 2-4 Kansas team, especially with the home advantage we should have, seeing it’s homecoming week. Webb has to come in confident, try to not throw any picks, and our defense has to be ready to play. I’m going to go with Tech 42-14 on this one, but don’t make me regret it!
