LUBBOCK – With a field goal kick as time expired, Josh Lambert sent West Virginia University to a 37 – 34 victory over Texas Tech at the Jones AT&T Stadium on Saturday.
Tech, who led most of the game, gave up 17 points in the last six minutes of the match, losing their third Big 12 game of the season, and their eighth straight conference game.
Quarterback Davis Webb went 28-of-46, throwing for three touchdowns and one interception. Running back DeAndre Washington ran for 132 yards on 29 attempts.
West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett went 28-of-44, throwing for 301 yards in the game.
Tech continues to be a heavily penalized team, giving up 115 yards on 12 penalties, versus 63 yards for WVU. The Red Raiders rank first in the Big 12 and only second to Tulane, nationally, in the amount of penalty yards assessed per game.
According to Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Tech has not gone 2-4 since the 1994 season, in which they went on to the Cotton Bowl.
The Red Raiders look to bounce back against Kansas in next week’s Homecoming game. Kick-off will be at 2:30 p.m.
