A former SMU running back has a simple approach to the Mustangs football issues: either fix the program or kill it. According to ESPN Dallas, Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson told a Dallas radio station he had talked to four former players who all agreed that if the on the field issues are not resolved soon, they should just end the program. Dickerson, who was a part of the famed “Pony Express” running attack, said SMU should try to model the team after the Texas Christian University football program. Head Coach of the Mustangs June Jones resigned on Monday, after losing the first two games by a combined score of 88 -6.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is ready to fight back. Jones’ attorney Levi McCathern responded to the civil suit by an exotic dancer that says Jones sexually assaulted her. The statement read “These allegations are completely false. The Legal complaint is unsupported by facts or evidence of any kind. This is nothing more than an attempt to embarrass and extort Jerry Jones. This is a shakedown by a lawyer who is a solo practitioner just trying to make a name for himself. The alleged incidents would have been more than five years old. We intend to vigorously contest this complaint and expect it will be show for what it is — a money grab. Due to the seriousness of these baseless allegations, we have also involved law enforcement.” Jana Weckerly is trying to get over one-million-dollars in the suit.
