LUBBOCK – It only took 36 seconds into the second half of the match on Sunday for the Red Raiders to score a goal.
Texas Tech, coming into the match undefeated and ranked number seven in the country, were looking to continue that streak as they took on Abilene Christian in misting rain on Sunday night at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
And the Red Raiders did just that, beating the Wildcats 2-0.
Janine Beckie, who has been a major factor in Tech’s win streak, connected on the goal with an assist from Alli Murphy. Murphy is one of the leaders in assists in the NCAA, now totaling nine in eight matches.
Paige Strahan also scored a goal for Tech twenty minutes into the second half. Abilene Christian could not get much going after keeping the Red Raiders scoreless through the first half of the match.
Tech will be on the road for their next three games, but head back to Lubbock on September 28 to take on UC Riverside at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
