After scoring two goals in the first twelve minutes of the match, there was no looking back for Texas Tech.
The Red Raiders opened the season on Sunday at the John Walker Complex with a 5-0 defeat of Oral Roberts. Tech was originally supposed to open the season against New Mexico on Friday, but the match was canceled due to an investigation into the Lobo’s soccer team.
The match was played in front of 1,811 fans, third largest crowd in school history.
Meagan McCullough, Janine Beckie, Hannah Devine, Caity Heap, and Cassie Conarty all scored in the match for Tech, who, according to texastech.com, collected its sixth shutout in it’s last seven season openers.
Alli Murphy assisted on four of the five goals in the match, breaking the single match record set in 2009.
Tech will head to Indiana this weekend to participate in the Notre Dame Invitational, facing the host team on August 29 and Eastern Michigan on August 31.
