Jerry Jones says Jason Garrett is not coaching for his job this season.
According to ESPN Dallas, Jones, general manager and owner of the Dallas Cowboys, says the Cowboys record will have no effect on his decision to extend Garrett’s contract.
This is the final year of Garrett’s contract, who is 29-27 in his tenure as the Cowboys’ coach.
Jones says he believes the Cowboys have the players and the coaches to compete this upcoming season.
Last year, the team went 8-8, missing out on the playoffs for the third straight year.
The Cowboys kick-off their regular-season schedule on September 7 versus the 49ers.
