Dallas, TX  —  The Federal Aviation Administration is hoping to fine Southwest Airlines 12-million dollars for allegedly not following regulations regarding repairs to Boeing 737s.

The FAA says Dallas-based Southwest allowed a contractor to not follow proper procedure when it did an “extreme makeover” to 44 airplanes in 2006.  The FAA also alleges Southwest knew the planes weren’t in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations when it started flying them in 2009.  Southwest has 30 days to respond to the accusations.
