OU Officials Say Emergency Text System Worked

(Norman, OK)  —  Even though it turned out to be a false alarm, officials with the University of Oklahoma say their emergency system worked the way it was supposed to.

A text alert went out yesterday that shots had been fired on campus, and students were advised to “shelter in place.”

University President David Boren later said the campus lockdown may have been prompted by a vehicle backfiring.
