The Dallas Stars are victorious against the Boston Bruins in the shootout 3-2 Tuesday night. Former Bruin and current Star Rich Peverley scored the game winning goal in the shootout. Stars center Vernon Fiddler scored late in the third period to take the game into overtime.
Stars Captain Jamie Benn started the scoring three minutes into the game. Bruins defenseman Torey Krug tied the game less than a minute later. The next goal was scored by Bruins forward Milan Lucic. The shootout had four rounds with Bruins center Patrice Bergeron scoring in the first round. The next shootout goal came by Stars center Tyler Seguin in the second round of the shootout.
Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 36 shots out of 38. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask made 36 of 38 saves. Stars Defenseman Jordie Benn received credit for an assist on the goal that his brother scored. Former Star and current Bruin forward Reilly Smith picked up an assist in the game as well.
This night marks the return of two former Bruins Peverley and Seguin in which both played big parts in the shootout win in Boston. Former Star current Bruin Loui Eriksson is the only player that was involved with the trade that didn’t score or register a point in the game.
