Texas Tech students are camping out in Raiderville this week leading up to the Oklahoma State game to get the best seats in AT&T Jones Stadium.

Texas Tech students go about their everyday activities but come back to stay the nights in Raiderville, a campsite where students stay and check-in, to get the best seats at Saturday’s game.

Paul Ives, a senior accounting student, says the fun happens when people come to Raiderville after their normal daily things.

“I just got off of work and got up here about 5:30,” Ives said. “And have just been waiting for people to get out of class and off of work so we can have some fun tonight.”

The population of the first two nights is a total of 81 people. Chase Porter, a senior finance student, says it’s the most dedicated that come this early in the week.

“For the first two nights,” Porter said. “It’s cool to see the most dedicated people come out.”

The first two nights have been fairly quiet in Raiderville. Tech students still occupy their time by just hanging out with each other. Ives said the first night was pretty quiet so they just got together and watched a movie.

“Last night we busted a laptop out and started watching a movie,” Ives said. “We had some neighbors come over and got to meet some people around here but yeah nothing crazy last night.”

Raiderville campers expect it to pick up on Halloween night and get more exciting action. Paul Ives and Carl Fuchs, junior petroleum engineering  student, both predict it to get weird in Raiderville on Halloween night.

“Tomorrow is going to be Halloween. I can see it getting pretty wild,” Ives said. “Tomorrow will be the day to let’s get weird,” Fuchs said.

Texas Tech will be seeking revenge on Oklahoma State who has defeated Tech the past three years. Morgan Sullivan, a freshman journalism student, thinks head coach Kliff Kingsbury has brought something that will change the outcome this year.

“He has definitely brought something back,” Sullivan said.

The experience you get while in Raiderville beats out the reward. Porter says getting a good seat at the game is just a perk.

“I’ve done it for the past 3 year and it’s always been a fun time,” Porter said. “It’s almost like getting in to the game early is just an added perk.”
