(New York, NY) — American Airlines is one step closer to emerging from bankruptcy.
A federal judge ruled in favor of their bankruptcy plan today, despite a government challenge to the Fort Worth airline’s merger with US Air.
The judge says the bankruptcy and merger plans are two separate cases. He also doesn’t see a reason to delay approval of American’s restructuring.
The judge did say American would have to rewrite their bankruptcy plan if the Justice Department is successful in blocking the merger with US Air.
The merger trial starts November 25th.
