WATERTOWN, MASS – The Watertown suburb of Boston is on lock-down this morning as law enforcement officers continue their manhunt for Suspect #2, “the white hat suspect”, seen in various photos and videos released by the FBI.
The bombing suspect known as “black hat” was killed during an exchange of gunfire with police last night.
Several media outlets are reporting the two suspects are brothers from Chechnya.
SUMMARY OF THE LAST 12 HOURS
– A 7-Eleven in Cambridge was robbed after 10pm last night.
– Video from a surveillance camera in the store revealed the robbers to be the suspects wanted for bombing the Boston Marathon Monday.
– Around 10:30pm, an MIT police officer was found shot to death in his police cruiser.
– The 2 suspects carjack a Mercedes SUV in Cambridge. The car’s owner was held captive for about a half-hour, but was released unharmed.
– The car was discovered by police in Watertown, a chase ensued, and explosive devices were allegedly thrown from the suspects’ vehicle.
– The chase ended and a shoot-out with police began, again explosive devices were allegedly used against the police.
– An MBTA officer was injured during the shoot-out and is in critical condition.
– One of the suspects, “black hat”, was critically injured during the shoot-out and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
– The second suspect, “white hat”, fled the scene of the shoot-out and is at-large.
– Watertown has been placed in “lock-down” while law enforcement officers go door-to-door searching for Suspect #2.
Various media outlets are reporting the 2 suspects are brothers from Chechnya. The at-large Suspect #2 has been identified as 19-year-old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev while his brother, “Black Hat suspect”, has been identified as 26-year old Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Public transportation and businesses in the Watertown area have closed while M.I.T., Harvard, Boston University, Boston College, Emerson College, Northeastern University and Suffolk University have all canceled classes today. Law Enforcement officials are instructing residents to stay home and local businesses to remain closed while the manhunt continues.
