TTU System Regents to meet Feb. 28 – March 1
The Texas Tech University System Board of Regents will meet Thursday and Friday (Feb. 28 – March 1) in Abilene. The meeting will take place in Room 2000 of the new Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing Building (1674 Pine Street, Abilene, TX 79601).
Below are highlights of the topics and items to be discussed at the upcoming meeting, including estimated times with periodic recesses. The agenda book for media is attached.
Thursday, Feb. 28
7:45 a.m.
• Swearing-in of new members and election of board officers
• Strategic Planning Retreat, which will introduce the first-of-its-kind strategic plan for the TTU System administration along with the latest accountability and productivity report for the component institutions
• Chancellor’s report on the 2012 state-wide economic impact of the TTU System
1 p.m. – Academic, Clinical and Student Affairs Committee; agenda items include:
• Approve a change in name for the Area of Accounting to the School of Accounting in the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration
1:45 p.m. – Audit Committee
2:30 p.m. – Facilities Committee; agenda items include:
• Approve establishment of a design budget for the TTU Research and Technology Park
• Re-approve a project to construct the TTUHSC School of Nursing facility in El Paso
3 p.m. – Finance and Administration Committee
3:30 p.m. – Executive Session
The Board will reconvene in open session at approximately 4:45 p.m. to consider action on executive session items, if any, and recess upon completion of the session.
Friday, March 1
8 a.m. – Tours of School of Pharmacy and School of Nursing
8:30 a.m. – School of Nursing Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
9 a.m. – Introductions and Recognitions; reports include:
• Chancellor’s report on cost savings and efficiencies across the TTU System, a fundraising update, and an update on the impact of the Texas Emerging Technology Fund investments in the National Institute for Renewable Energy and TTU wind research
10 a.m. – Executive Session
Following executive session, the Board will convene into open session and adjourn at noon.
