STUDENT MUSIC DIRECTOR
KTXT-FM is currently accepting applications for its Music Director position until January 25th. Undergraduate students with a wide interest in music, excellent communication skills and computer experience are encouraged to apply. This is a paid part-time position within the Texas Tech College of Media and Communication that will begin in February of 2013. Responsibilities:
- All music content on KTXT-FM, its audio stream and related content on its website
- Review and approve all submitted music for airplay (including specialty shows)
- Enter new music into automation system
- Maintain and police the station’s music library
- Use PowerGold to build, schedule and maintain music rotations in automation system
- Maintain music reporting requirements for CRB, RIAA and others
- Train students and staff on voice-tracking and live-host duties
- Schedule students and staff to cover on-air music shifts
- Maintain music lists on station website
- Maintain tracking reports for CMJ and other reporting outlets
- Build relationships with Music Industry and Performing Groups
- Schedule performing groups for possible live on-air play
- Assist with production needs
- Assist with station promotion and branding
- Assist with posting content to station website
- Coordinate efforts with station staff
- Generate, maintain and retain reports relating to music content
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of GarageBand, Final Cut Express and Adobe Audition audio editing software
- Knowledge of PowerGold music scheduling software
- Knowledge of RCS NexGen automation system
- Knowledge of popular and other music relevant to station’s format
- Basic knowledge of audio editing
- Use of Mac, PCs and other station equipment
- Knowledge of basic studio and station operation
