TTU Student Attacked Before Carol of Lights

By Julie Fisher, KTXT News

The Texas Tech Police department sent out an alert yesterday of an assault which happened on campus over the weekend.

Around 6:30pm December 1st, a female student was assaulted while sitting on a concrete wall on the east side of the old Mass Communications building.  The lights had been turned off in this area of campus in preparation for the Carol of Lights event.

The student reported to Texas Tech Police that a man grabbed her hair and covered her mouth, attempting to drag her away.  He dragged her around 25 feet before she was able to free herself by head-butting and elbowing him.  She was unable to get a detailed description of her attacker; however she said he had large hands and may have been wearing boots.

The Texas Tech Police Department cannot confirm if the suspect is still presenting a threat on campus, but urges anyone to call 911 immediately to report suspicious behavior.
