KTXT-FM – There are several opportunities for students who want to get involved in sports media, radio, and sports television next semester.
Students can add EMC 3100 or EMC 4390 to their schedules next semester, allowing them to gain practicum credit for working at KTXT-FM. Students will receive course credit as they gain experience in news, music, marketing, promotions and production.
There are 2 practicum classes being offered:
EMC 3100, where students work at KTXT 60 hours over the semester and receive 1 hour of course credit. That’s about 4 hours a week over 15 weeks.
EMC 4390, where students work at KTXT 160 hours over the semester and receive 3 hours of course credit. That’s about 10.5 hours a week over 15 weeks.
The courses are open to all students, but check with your college advisor as to how they will fit into your degree plan, as these courses will not count towards some programs. These courses also require prior consent before approval will be given to register. Contact Derrick Ginter via email for more information.
A practicum course for students interested in sports television is also available, and provides opportunities to work for RaiderVision covering various Texas Tech sports events. If you are interested in these courses, talk to your advisor for more information.
