Four veterans were killed and sixteen others are injured after a train hit a flatbed truck in Midland Texas during a parade last Thursday afternoon. The accident happened during the ninth annual Show of Support parade. A big rig pulling a flatbed trailer was carrying 24 veterans and their spouses when it was hit by the Union Pacific freight train.
A spokesperson for Union Pacific says the train blared its horn before the collision. The crossing gate and flashing lights were working. There were no injuries on the train crew. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the accident.
Donations for survivors of the crash and families impacted by the accident can be made at showofsupport.org, the official Show of Support Hunt for Heroes website.
