A Slaton pilot walked away safely after a helicopter crash Tuesday afternoon.
The crash occurred about 3:45pm at Slaton Municipal Airport. Glen “David” Guetersloh, 59, lost control of the aircraft while trying to land on a portable landing platform, crashing the helicopter on its side. Guetersloh was able to get out safely and did not seek medical attention.
Slaton Fire Chief Freddie Rainwater told KTXT News smoke from the crash could be seen from town. FAA officers were on site Tuesday afternoon, and are conducting an investigation into the incident.
