(Dallas, TX) — The early morning headline in the “Dallas Morning News” headline is just one word — Ambush. That’s the word used by Dallas Police Chief David Brown. Speaking at Dallas City Hall this morning at 12:30 a.m., Brown and Mayor Mike Rawlings were clearly saddened over the deaths of four Dallas police officers and one DART officer. Rawlings said he had heard from the White House and from Governor Abbott offering all possible support to the people of Dallas.
Texas, Nation Stunned By Dallas Sniper Incident
(Dallas, TX) — The world is watching Dallas in disbelief after last night’s sniper incident downtown that claimed the lives of at least five police officers. Dozens of rounds were fired at police, who were attempting to get the public out of harm’s way during a protest over police shootings in other U.S. cities. Reports indicate at least one suspect is dead and a woman found not far away from him is in police custody. A person of interest carrying a firearm on city streets was detained, but later released.
One Dallas Transit Officer Killed, Multiple Officers Shot
(Dallas, TX) — Dallas Area Rapid Transit reports that one of its officers has died and three others wounded following a shooting in downtown Dallas during a rally against police shootings. Multiple reports say two Dallas cops were also shot by someone carrying a rifle this evening. The condition of the officers haven’t been released. SWAT negotiators are reportedly trying to get suspect to surrender after finding the person holed up inside a building.
