Another warm, dry, and breezy day is in store. After starting out the day on the cool side, temperatures will warm quickly under mostly sunny skies. Highs will likely be near 90 degrees in the city of Lubbock. Along with the heat, gusty winds will enter the forecast on Tuesday afternoon. Gusts over 30 mph could lead to patchy areas of blowing dust, especially outside of the city.
Monday’s Forecast
A weak cold front will enter the South Plains late Sunday night, bringing a brief shot of cooler air, before falling apart on Monday. Due to the weak nature of this cold front, it appears that temperatures will still be able to make it up to near 80 in Lubbock Monday afternoon.
Saturday Weather Update
While Saturday still appears to be a nice day. Recent forecast models have increased Saturday afternoon’s rain chances across the South Plains. It appears that a few showers and thunderstorms will develop near the Texas/New Mexico border between 4-7 PM and move eastward toward Lubbock through the evening. Thunderstorms are not expected to be severe, but could contain lightning and gusty winds.

You can expect highs near 70, high clouds, and breezy afternoon conditions to end the work week. Winds will occasionally gust over 25 mph through Friday evening, possibly leading to a few localized areas of blowing dust.
Thursday’s Forecast
Thursday will begin very cold, with temperatures in the 20’s across Lubbock. Winds will not be strong, but a 5-10 mph morning breeze could knock wind chills down into the teens once gain.
Wednesday’s Forecast
Winter is making a come back across the Southern Plains. A strong cold front swept through west Texas on Tuesday afternoon, ushering in much colder weather. An upper level storm system has led to the development of showers and thunderstorms across the South Plains, which will exit the region Wednesday morning.
Tuesday’s Forecast
Temperatures will begin in the 50’s across the city of Lubbock, under partly cloudy skies. Winds will be breezy to start the day, only growing stronger through the afternoon. After 1PM, gusts over 40 mph and areas of blowing dust are expected. Temperatures will be mild, though not nearly as warm as Monday’s high of 89°. Afternoon highs in the low and mid 70’s appear likely.
Monday’s Forecast
Another hot afternoon is expected across the South Plains. Highs will top-out near 90° by mid afternoon, under mostly sunny skies. Winds will also be a big story. While initially light, westerly breezes will dramatically increase through the day. After lunch, some gusts could approach 40 mph. With dry soils and gusty winds, blowing dust will be likely across the city of Lubbock Monday afternoon and evening.

Temperatures will be near 80 on Friday and this warming trend will continue through the weekend. Highs on both Saturday and Sunday will top out in the mid 80’s, under plenty of sunshine. Afternoons will feature breezy winds, out of the southwest 15-20 mph. There is a very small chance of an isolated storm or two off of the Caprock each afternoon.
Thursday’s Forecast
Temperatures will be much warmer, with more sun than the past several days. Highs will climb to near 70 in Lubbock. Winds will be relatively light; only between 10-20 mph. Even warmer temperatures are expected this weekend, under mostly sunny skies.
