Thursday’s Severe Weather forecast
So far this spring, the South Plains has been spoiled with ‘uneventful’ weather, while the rest of the greater Southern Plains has experienced huge hail, damaging winds, and violent tornadoes. However, things will begin to change as early as Thursday afternoon.
Wednesday’s Forecast
A southerly wind and warmer temperatures return to the South Plains today. High temperatures will range from the mid 80’s to mid 90’s across the area. In the city of Lubbock, afternoon temperatures will top-out in the lower 90’s.
Tuesday’s Forecast
A bit of a change is expected in Tuesday’s weather. A cold front will move through the South Plains late Monday night with a slight chance of showers, gusty winds, and cooler temperatures.
Monday’s Forecast
Our daily pattern of warm temperatures, partly cloudy skies, and gusty afternoon winds will continue for at least one more afternoon. Highs today will top-out in the lower 90’s across the city of Lubbock over the next few hours.

Near record breaking temperatures will continue into the first weekend of ‘summer’. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 90’s to 100 once again, while Sunday may be a few degrees cooler; in the mid 90’s.

Hot temperatures, partly cloudy skies, and breezy afternoon winds will rule the forecast for the next few days. Thursday morning will begin on the mild side, with temperatures in the upper 50’s to near 60°. There could be a few areas of fog, especially over areas that saw rain on Wednesday afternoon. Any fog will burn off by 9 AM.
Wednesday’s Forecast
The South Plains is entering an almost ‘summer-like’ pattern, consisting of very warm temperatures, gusty afternoon winds, and a small,but daily, threat for afternoon thunderstorms. Wednesday will begin mild, with temperatures in the lower 60’s, under partly cloudy skies. There could be patchy fog to start the day, off of the Caprock.
