Wednesday will be another damp, chilly day across the South Plains. Light showers will be common across the area through the noon hour, before slowly tapering off by evening. Highs will struggle to reach 50°, under dense cloud cover. Winds will be out of the northeast 10-20 mph, making it feel quite chilly through the day.
Monday Severe Weather Threat
After a break from thunderstorm activity on Easter, it appears that storms will enter the forecast once again, by this afternoon. Large hail will be the main threat, with a lesser chance of damaging winds and an isolated tornado. Storms will likely pop-up between 2-4 PM, and not clear the area until mid evening.
Weekend Outlook
This weekend will feature active weather across the South Plains. Saturday looks to be a great day to get outdoors and enjoy the warm weather. However, storms may develop across the eastern South Plains Saturday evening. Similar to Friday, any storms that do develop will be capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.

The calm weather of the past few days will take an active turn on Friday afternoon. Moisture levels began increasing across the South Plains Thursday afternoon and will continue to rise on Friday. At the same time, a dry-line boundary will set up across the western South Plains as upper level disturbances move across the area, leading to a possibly stormy evening.

Temps will be seasonably warm on Thursday, along with our daily round of afternoon winds. However, there will be more cloud cover than previous days, possibly keeping temperatures a few degrees cooler than currently forecasted. Precipitation chances will be very small and likely confined to areas south and east of Lubbock. Though, it is possible that these areas could see a shower or weak thunderstorm Thursday evening.
Your Wednesday Forecast
Very nice weather is expected on Wednesday. After a cool start to the day, temperatures will warm drastically. Lubbock will likely reach a high in the upper 70’s, under mostly sunny skies. It’s possible that a few clouds could stroll in from the north by evening, but will not significantly affect your evening forecast. Winds will become strong by late afternoon, possibly gusting over 30 mph.
