“In The Air” is the title of Kane Brown’s 2024 tour, but I had no idea that he would be entering the arena in the air as well.
For Brown, this is his second time in Lubbock in the past 3 years. He brought the Georgia half of Florida Georgia Line, Tyler Hubbard, and North Carolina band, Parmalee.
For me, I had seen 30+ concerts since 2019. I’ve watched big names like Ed Sheeran, Kelsea Ballerini, Khalid, Luke Combs, and Post Malone but none of those shows could have prepared me for the show I was in for last Friday.
The show started with Parmalee as they began singing their more popular songs over the past 5 years or so. It’s not really my type of music; it is more of the country love songs that I don’t gravitate to. With that said, I did enjoy the performance of “Gonna Love You.” During this song, the audience was able to hear just how good the lead singer Matt Thomas is. The two highlights of the show for me were a cover of “Yeah” by Usher. The guitars and drums during that song went crazy and the light show was spectacular. The second to last song in their show was “Carolina,” a song that I have liked since the first time I heard it back in 2013.
The second performer was Tyler Hubbard. I went into that show knowing he had a great stage presence and he did not disappoint. He played a lot of songs from his new album, “Strong,” as well as a few from his debut record. He was vibrant on stage and really interacted with the audience. My highlight was when he played “Cruise,” the 2012 smash debut single released by Florida Georgia Line. Hubbard was exactly what I expected. A great stage presence and it feels as if he cares about his audience and wants them to have the night of their life.
Lastly, Kane Brown. Where do I start? The pyrotechnics, lasers, fire, explosions, and confetti were only a small part of the show we were in store for. Kane came out playing “Bury Me in Georgia” and ended with “Like I Love Country Music.” In the middle, a high-flying Kane was all over the place. From dropping into the arena from the rafters to singing from the crowd, he was electrifying. As mentioned before, I have seen a lot of big-name artists, and he rivals Post Malone in stage presence and fiery explosions. My top three performances of the night were “Lose It,” “In the Air,” and an unreleased song called “Haunted.”
Overall, the show was great, the atmosphere was stellar, and I would recommend seeing Kane Brown if you can. You will not be disappointed.
