Upset you couldn’t or can’t make it to Arlington or Houston to see Taylor Swift this weekend or next? Lucky for you, Taylor is coming to Lubbock this September to conclude The Eras Tour with a special one-off show!
Taylor hasn’t played in Lubbock since 2011 when she brought her Speak Now Tour to the United Supermarkets Arena. Now, 12 years later, she’s coming back and bringing what is sure to be one of the biggest tours not just of this year, but of all time. In a press release, Swift mentioned that she’s been waiting to come back every day since she left.
“Every time we tour I tell my booking agents, ‘We need to book a Lubbock show.’ And a lot of times I ask myself, Why haven’t we been to Lubbock in over a decade?'” Swift said in the release, “I’m excited to get back to the Hub City and I can’t wait to bring this tour to Lubbock.”
As for what she’s missed since she last came to Lubbock, Swift said, “Allsup’s. When we played here last time, our busses stopped at the Allsup’s in Hermleigh and I think I found Jesus in that fried bean & cheese burrito. One of my friends told me that they just opened one across the street from Texas Tech’s campus so I guess we know where we’re getting catering from.”
The show will be opened by HAIM and Slade Coulter. While HAIM has been known to be close to Taylor and will be opening shows for her across the entire tour, Lubbock-bred, Blue Light favorite Slade Coulter comes as a wild and welcome surprise for the show. When asked how he was picked, Swift was quick to gush about how big of a fan she was.
“The first time I heard Take It out on Me, I told my mom, ‘This guy is the real deal,'” she said. “He just writes so honestly and so earnestly and I’ve been dying to get him to do a show with me. If I had it my way, I’d have the entire Honcho Music Group roster rotating as my openers. The only reason I had to get GAYLE to open for me is that Dalton Domino refused to believe me when I told him all the songs about Jake Gyllenhaal weren’t actually about John Mayer. The only reason I had to get OWENN to open for me is because Parker Ryan asked me how much pyro he could bring and he got upset when I told him none. Luckily for us, all Slade needed was a stage, his band, and his tour manager asked for $200 Chipotle Gift Card.”
Tickets for the show will go on sale this Friday, April 7 at 10 AM. Tickets and more info can be found at this link.
