Wow, wow, wow! Now typically, the style of music this album portrays wouldn’t be something I would normally gravitate towards. However, I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed each and every song on this album – I’ve even been listening to a few particular songs back-to-back!
I found myself immersed throughout the album, Silver Behind the Mirror, due majorly in part by how it stands out. As a whole, the album portrays a strong sense of darkness – deep and riveting through the instrumentals and the voice of Josie Yeager. This lingering feeling of darkness has a sense of unease that comes along with it, similar in the way how one thing can have two contradicting forces.
This is all said with how the album was perceived by me – and although darkness and unease may seem like negative descriptions of an entirely great album, this is what makes it compelling and unique in its own right.
Each aspect utilized within the album, from transitions, instrumentals, to the unique of Yeager, all come together to form an absolute influential piece of art. My favorite songs from the album would have to be both Silver Behind the Mirror and Dream of – the two that I just want to listen to over and over again! There’s a sense of appreciation I have towards this album – all the dynamics that went into it along with the elevated creativity of Pearly is something I’ve thought about after listening to Silver Behind the Mirror.
Of course, I’ll find myself checking out more of what they have to offer, along with listening to what I already know. Most certainly a band I’ll be taking note of from this point on!
