Album Review: “I Want the Door to Open” by Lala Lala

I want the door to open is the latest album from alternative artist Lala Lala. This album is a bit on the shorter side with a runtime of about 32 minutes. “Diver” is the lead single of this album and it served as a great introduction to the album a few months prior to its release. The verses are softer, and the chorus really picks up the tempo.

Alongside “Diver” songs like “Prove It” and “Color of the Pool” also exemplify this pop/alternative sound that really could launch the album into mainstream pop culture. “Diver” and “Color of the Pool” are two very different songs and sound different, but they still make great additions to the album.

“Prove It” has this slight acoustic sound to it that really allows for a slow in the tempo but still carries a slight beat to maintain the overall pace of the album. “Color of the Pool” begins with a techno sound. As the chorus comes the techno sound begins to fade out but never disappears. The addition of the other instruments makes the song fit more seamlessly within the 12 tracks on the album.

Overall, this album is good. Listeners who enjoy a slight mixture or alternative and pop will enjoy the album and will find a song or two that they can enjoy!
