The Texas Tech volleyball team will take on ninth-ranked Baylor in a two-game series on Friday and Saturday. It will be the Red Raiders second Big 12 matchup of the season.
The Red Raiders will enter the weekend with a 10-5 record coming off the heels of a disappointing weekend against Kansas. Texas Tech will look to bounce back and get their first Big 12 win of the season.
Reaching the Next Level
Earlier in the season, the Red Raiders hosted another top-ten team in Ohio State. The Red Raiders lost the game in three sets.
Head coach Tony Graystone said it was a good opportunity for the team to see what a top-ten opponent looks like.
“You have a team that really is a top-ten team and they come to your place and get to show you what they’re all about.” Graystone said, “So you get a firsthand look at what that next level really looks like.”
Baylor will be the Red Raiders second top-ten opponent of the season. Texas Tech will get an opportunity to see how they stack up against one of the best teams in the nation.
Preparing for Baylor
The Bears will enter the weekend at 7-3 after defeating Kansas State 3-0 in both of their games last weekend.
Graystone said he expects the Bears to be a tough test.
“They’re a top-ten and for good reason,” Graystone said, “They have some really elite attackers, and they’ve got a good recent track record of what they’ve done.”
Baylor outside hitter Yosianna Pressley leads the Bears with 166 kills on the season. The Red Raiders will look to slow her down and come away with the upset in Waco.
